I began my teaching career as a New York City Teaching Fellow in 2003 at Intermediate School 292 in District 19. Two years later, I joined Intermediate School 381. At I.S. 381, I have worked in various capacities, including former Science Teacher and Assistant Principal, and now the current Principal. Having spent most of my career at I.S. 381 and being a leader of this school for over ten years, I have built a profound and personal connection with the school community, staff and students, and would love nothing more than to see I.S. 381 continue to thrive and be one of the best among District 22 middle schools. As an educator, I am committed to positively impacting the lives of my students and ensuring that they become successful, responsible and productive citizens.

Born and raised in the Old Mill Basin area of Brooklyn Mr. Lechillgrien spent his early days sitting on the stoop of his childhood home waiting for the Mr. Softee truck to pass by. With his roots embedded in the area where his parents attended school, Mr. Lechillgrien is coming from a ten year stay at Midwood High School where he served as a Special Educator of Math and Science. There he was able to develop a passion for education as well as skills needed to become a School and Community leader. Mr. Lechillgrien believes that it takes a village to raise a single child and have all students achieve. With Trust and Strong Family and Community ties at the forefront he believes that with collaboration and support every student here at I.S.381 can grow and succeed.
